Victim Services Delegation
Members of the Victims Services from Morinville gave a brief presentation
regarding their services and statistics. The representatives will be doing
presentations to other councils as well to try to get the municipalities to
understand what role they play in the communities. After the presentation
Councilor Joseph Trapani was concerned that the increase in people using
the services meant an increase in crime. However, the members contribute the
numbers to increased awareness in the community instead of increased crime.
Councilor Joe Gosselin asked if women's shelters and halfway houses were a
need in the community. The ladies responded by saying that having places
like that are always important, but they would look into it further to see
if that is something they should work towards.
