"Meeting the needs of Victims of Crime or Tragedy" Welcome to the Victim Services website for the Sturgeon Region, Alberta. This site is here to provide interested citizens of the Sturgeon Region with information about the local Victim Services resources available to help them through the aftermath of a crime, natural disaster, accident or other emergency.
The aftermath of a crime, natural disaster, accident or other emergency can be traumatic and overwhelming for a victim, their family or those who witnessed the event. The Victim Services Unit - Sturgeon Region is a volunteer organization working in partnership with the Morinville RCMP to provide support, information and referrals to victims of crime or tragedy. Some people have trouble with the way they feel and act after a crime or tragedy. Maybe you are experiencing fear, anger, depression, sleeplessness, nervousness, and/or guilt. It is important to remember that this is the normal reaction of a normal person to an abnormal situation. What can you do about it? Don't keep your feelings inside. One of the most effective coping strategies is to talk it out with family, friends, or relatives. If there is no one who will listen or that you can talk to, call Victim Services. We'll listen and try to help.
